I learned how to make films in Atlanta, cutting my teeth in every department from Wardrobe to VFX before I put everything into being a director. I've learned a lot along the way. A few lessons particularly stand out: Cinema is about subtext. Being an artist is being naked. Choice defines character. Everything takes a bit longer than you think.
I love zoom lenses, split diopters, and framing people through windows. I love watching a face change its mind and filming stories of ambition, tragedy, and defiance. I love playing with actors. Visiting rental houses to nerd out over new gear. Mostly though, I love being on set with passionate people.
As of 2021, I work out of Los Angeles, CA and Atlanta, GA. My narrative and commercial works are composed of high-detailed framework and emotional storytelling.
When not working, I guest lecture at Oglethorpe University, Clayton State University, and Lafayette High School in St. Louis on the process of directing film and television.
I have a thousand favorite movies, but Hitchcock's "Vertigo", Robert Rossen's "The Hustler", Barry Jenkins' "Moonlight", and Bergman's "Persona" are a snapshot of some of the ones that have solidfied this love affair.
